This was produced for Australian TV program HungryBeast on Australia’s ABC1.

It’s pretty amazing, inspiring, and scary all at the same time.

I posted this, not necessarily because it’s part of the MGM brand, but more because of the story and the process behind it. Radium Audio Ltd. was called on to craft Leo’s new voice in the latest MGM identity. Leo is one of the most iconic mascots to grace the silverscreen in almost a century and to do it justice they flew to the Drakenstein Lion Sanctuary in South Africa to search for some voice talent. Read more here

Then we hear not just roaring but a kind of unearthly prehistoric keening … a song they sing to each other, one by one, multiplying and echoing throughout the entire reserve … a choral symphony of 35 lions in full voice under the African starry night sky,

When you get the itch to just throw it out the window and adlib? Daniels shows you exactly what happens and it’s down right hilarious.

“RE:PLAY is a wonderful chance to be creative with no boundaries. When given total freedom as a storyteller, we (daniel&daniel) found ourselves battling between a desire to make something meaningful and honest and a desire to make something perverted (which is also in our case honest). Entirely by accident, Puppets became a perfect analogy for our self aware creative process. But mostly it’s lots of butt jokes.”

Everything from music videos, to Ford commercials, to random BMX fun. All of it is great. The best part about it is that Stebs continues to be a work horse and takes none of his success for granted and is so very appreciative of all of the people he has had the opportunity to meet and work with.

Australian designer, Bianca Chang, masterfully wields her blade to create these fantastic three dimensional typographic sculptures that appear to twist their way to infinitiy.

<block>“At the time I was working in the branded environments team of a Sydney design studio and was inspired by the beautiful simplicity of tone-on-tone signage and the shadow play of 3-dimensional letterforms as the lighting changed around them…I wanted to re-create this effect with paper.”</block>

With only a pencil, a ruler, a compass, a blade and loads of 100% waste-recycled paper she designs a basic letterform, replicating it’s shame with minor adjustments to create the hypnotizing spiral effect. A single piece uses between 180-200 sheets and takes approximately 8-100 hours depending, of course, on the size and intricacy of the letterform. The price tag also reflects complexity and can range from $500-$5000

Chang does take private commissions from across the board (clients so far have included birthday well-wishers and Oprah’s magazine). Interested folks can contact her directly at chang.bianca@gmail.com.

A graffiti artist’s black book is their test bed. It’s where they plan and perfect their art; their signature style. With advancements in software and technology, things like Graffiti Analysis 2.0 have become possible. We’ve seen ground breaking laser tagging from the likes of Graffiti Research Lab, but it’s still amazing to see such an analog art displayed in a digital medium.

This move into the digital realm allows artists to interact with their pieces even after they’re done writing. Moving it in a three dimensional space, giving it more depth, making it more intriguing as it pulsates and slides across the projected canvas. The video below is version 2.0, but since then they have made even more advancements and released the latest 3.0 version.

I never though that I’d see an animated gif that was actually well done. But Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg, creators of From Me To You, have totally blown the lid off that, with their Cinegraphs. These are so subtle yet so amazing that elevate the lowly animated GIF to a level approaching, dare I say it, fine art. Preparing to cover Fashion Week this past February, the two concepted the idea of creating something that would tell a more complete story than a single still frame.

We wanted to tell more of a story than a single still frame photograph but didn’t want the high maintenance aspect of a video

Primarily, Beck shoots the photos and Burg applies the motion-graphics magic in what they describe as “a highly collaborative process” that can take several hours of manual editing in order to breathe the whisper of life into each image.

Below is just one example, so be sure to stop by their Tumblr page to check out the rest of their amazing creations | From Me To You
