Just a sound I’ve been digging lately what with music videos becoming slick production numbers and all, it’s nice to see something that’s just…a video. Something but together in five minutes at a cost of essentially nothing.
We filmed it at Vittjåkk. Time spent: 5 minutes. Budget: 0 Skr. I love it.
Norlin distinguishes herself from the disconsolate, vibrato-shy flock of indie songbirds (i.e. Rilo Kiley and Camera Obscura) with her honesty and folky singer/songwriter sensibilities. For better or worse, she’s not afraid to be earnest, even if her more confessional songs, like “I Thought You Said Summer Is Going to Take the Pain Away” or “Long Lost Pen Pal” (on the album “Introducing…”) tiptoe along the edges of high school sentimentality. Hello Saferide’s second album Modern Short Stories offers a somewhat more mature, less giddy, but no less charmingly complicated version of the young woman who was introduced on Introducing…, with couple of lovely Swedish folk-pop ballads to boot.
More videos after the jump…
