Screw putting up a dry erase board in your home office — turn a whole wall into one with IdeaPaint ($30-$175). This ingenious paint turns anything you can paint into a reusable dry-erase surface, making it great for the office, kitchen, kid’s room, or garage, the latter so you can keep track of how many beers you’ve had while attempting to “fix” that old junker you’ve been tinkering with.

Mini Architecture | EVOL
EVOL is a Berlin based street artist that transforms banal urban surfaces, into miniature architectural surfaces through pasting. Using pasted paper, EVOL transforms electric boxes, small planters and other geometric city forms, into miniature apartment buildings and other structures. Each piece of paper is printed with a repetitive pattern of flat gray walls dotted with plain window frames. once applied to a surface, the paper transforms the form into small building that EVOL often adorns with small characters. EVOL performs this process within different cities and has even been commissioned to do installations in galleries, where he was created entire blocks of miniature buildings.
Pencil Sculptures | Dalton Ghetti
Brazilian born, Connecticut based, Dalton Ghetti carefully crafts the tips of pencils into amazing micro sculptures. These miniature masterpieces are a side project for the professional carpenter, who has been perfecting this art for the last 25 years. Dalton uses a razor blade, sewing needle, a sculpting knife, a steady hand and lots of patience to meticulously carve the graphite which can take anywhere between a few months to a few years. Over time he has broken many works in progress and keeps them in what he calls the cemetery collection. One of the most fascinating things about these tiny works of art is that he has never sold them, only given away to friends as gifts.

Mast Bros. Chocolatiers | The Scout
The Mast Brothers from The Scout on Vimeo.
This video, shot by Edward David, is about the Mast Bros. Chocolatiers in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It was shot for The Scout, a new lifestyle and design-conscious site highlighting unique events, retail and dining experiences in New York City.
The video tells the story of two brothers who share a fiercely independent spirit and a dedication to their craft.
They started their company in their apartment, using a homemade machine to process cacao beans. Over time they cultivated their creation, sourcing beans from family farms in Madagascar, Venezuela, the Dominican Republic, and Ecuador. Each bar is handmade with incredible reverence for the process and history of chocolate. They are bound in ornamental papers and golden foil like a collection of rare books. Each bar offers its own story of flavors, and no two are exactly alike.
The Mast Brothers are now planning to navigate the mighty Atlantic, sailing to the Dominican Republic in search of beans and a deeper connection with the folks who grow them. Before they begin the next chapter, The Scout spent time with Rick and Michael documenting their story.

Cloaking Device ON! | Daniel Franke + Markus Kison
Clever augmented reality applications are becoming the natural byproducts of our modern computers–computers that are tiny, have eyes and other location-aware sensors, and are able to place a synthetic layer of information on our view of the world around us.
The latest is this “invisible” block of solid concrete dreamed up by artists Daniel Franke and Markus Kison. So how does it work?
Durchsehen Exp. 01 (Docu) from Daniel Franke on Vimeo.
When a viewer approaches the fixed concrete block mounted at an angle on a pedestal in the middle of a gallery, a rotating cameras on top picks up his/her face and calculates the viewer’s exact line of sight. Custom software (written with the visually-oriented openFrameworks platform) then computes the exact angle and composition of the scene being blocked by the cube and projects it onto the face of the concrete. So, if you’re aligned properly, you see right “through” the block at the uninterrupted forms of the chair and bench on the other side.
The project is called “Durchsehen, Exp. 01 (augmented perspective)” and was displayed at a gallery in Berlin this year.
